Preliminary version, to be reviewed by a lawyer before launch.

Terms of use

Last updated: October 29, 2026

These terms govern your use of the Ciseaux Montreal site. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to these terms. The French version prevails.

1. Who we are

Ciseaux Montreal is a platform operated by Cap Commun, a company based in Montreal, Quebec. It allows hair salons and barbershops to post listings (shift covers, chair rentals, jobs, events) and hair professionals (“pros”) to respond to them.

To reach us: bonjour@coiffmtl.ca or the site's Contact page.

2. Ciseaux Montreal is an intermediary, not the employer

Ciseaux Montreal connects salons and pros. Ciseaux Montreal is not the employer of the pros who sign up and is not a party to the employment, service or rental agreements made between a salon and a pro.

The salon is responsible for determining whether the pro is an employee or self-employed, according to the criteria of Revenu Québec, the Canada Revenue Agency and the CNESST, and for meeting the resulting obligations (labour standards, source deductions, contributions, occupational health and safety).

The guides and articles published on the site are for information only and do not constitute legal, tax or accounting advice.

Ciseaux Montreal does not guarantee that a listing will be filled or that a pro will be hired.

3. Your account

  • You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • You must be 18 or older and have the capacity to enter into a contract in Quebec. Ciseaux Montreal is not offered to minors.
  • One account can have both a Salon role and a Pro role. You are responsible for all activity on your account and for keeping your password confidential.
  • A salon owner may invite managers and remains responsible for their actions in the salon space.
  • A pro profile appears in searches once it is at least 80% complete.

4. Listings, applications and messaging

  • Salons agree to post accurate listings: tasks, date, hours, rate, conditions and what is included.
  • Listings must not contain any discriminatory requirement within the meaning of the Quebec Charter of Human Rights and Freedoms (see the Community rules).
  • The salon's exact address and phone numbers are only shared once a shift or rental is accepted.
  • Messaging is for work-related exchanges. Messages may be reviewed by our team as part of a report or dispute.

5. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe, a secure payment provider, and, in the Android app downloaded from Google Play, by Google Play (Google Play's billing system) for subscriptions and single listings. No card data is stored on Ciseaux Montreal's servers. Prices are in Canadian dollars; GST and QST are added where applicable.

  • Shift covers: when a shift is confirmed, the pro's amount and the service fee (percentage shown on the Pricing page) are held on the salon's card. The pro is paid 48 hours after the shift ends, unless disputed.
  • Chair rentals: the pro pays the security deposit and first rent online; a commission (percentage shown on the Pricing page) is withheld from the rent paid to the salon.
  • Subscriptions: Salon plans and the Pro Profile are billed monthly and renew automatically. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. A subscription bought on the website is cancelled in your settings; a subscription bought in the Google Play app is cancelled in Google Play. A free trial offered in Google Play becomes paid when the trial ends, unless you cancel before.
  • Single listing: one-time purchase, valid for 30 days, not renewed.
  • An invoice is issued for every payment processed by Stripe. For purchases made in Google Play, Google Play collects applicable taxes and sends you the receipt.

6. Cancellations, no-shows and cover guarantee

  • If a pro does not show up for a confirmed shift paid online, the salon can report it from its calendar. The amount paid, including the service fee, is then refunded in full, and the listing can be pushed again as urgent (“cover guarantee”).
  • If a salon cancels a confirmed shift less than 24 hours before it starts, 50% of the amount planned for the pro is paid to the pro as compensation; the rest, including the service fee, is refunded to the salon. Earlier cancellations are refunded in full.
  • A salon or a pro can open a dispute from their space. Our team reviews the facts and may decide on a full or partial refund.
  • Repeated cancellations or unjustified no-shows may lead to account suspension.

7. Verified reviews

Only completed shifts paid online can be reviewed. A review is published once both parties have reviewed each other, or 14 days after the shift. Reviews must be honest, respectful and related to the work. We may hide a review that breaks the Community rules.

8. Your content

You keep your rights to the photos and texts you publish. You grant Cap Commun a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display them on Ciseaux Montreal and its apps while your account is active. You confirm that you have the right to publish this content, including the consent of the people photographed.

9. Community rules and moderation

You agree to follow the site's Community rules. We may remove content, hide a listing or suspend an account that does not follow them. Reports are handled within 48 hours.

10. Liability

Ciseaux Montreal provides the platform “as is”. To the extent permitted by law, Cap Commun is not responsible for the work performed, the relationships between salons and pros, or indirect damages arising from the use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits the rights granted to you by the Consumer Protection Act, where it applies.

11. Closing your account

You can delete your account at any time from your settings, or by making a request on this page if you can no longer access your account. Deleting the account stops subscriptions paid on the website; a subscription bought in Google Play must be cancelled in Google Play. Invoices and accounting records are kept for the period required by tax laws. We may close an account in the event of a serious breach of these terms.

12. Changes and governing law

We may change these terms; for any significant change, we will notify you by email or on the site before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and the applicable laws of Canada.
